Schadau Castle – Since 165 years a place of enjoyment
Schadau Castle was built from 1846 to 1854 for the banker Abraham Denis Alfred de Rougemont based on planes by Pierre-Charles Dusillon in a historic mixed style of Tudor Gothic and Neo-Renaissance inspired by the Loire castles. It is a listed building of national importance, under protection of the government and owned by the city of Thun.
The castle was renovated over two years and opened on June 1, 2019 as a boutique hotel with 9 rooms, restaurant, bar, veranda and garden terrace. The vision: being an animated historic building.
The location in the Schadau Park, an English garden directly on Lake Thun, with a view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains, offers the perfect setting for the Schadau Castle experience.

Directions
by car: A6 past Bern direction Thun; exit Thun-Süd; enter the roundabout and take the 1st exit onto Weststrasse; at the 2nd roundabout, take the 1st exit and continue along Weststrasse; at the traffic light, continue straight into Talackerstrasse - follow the road; at the next traffic light, leave the Talackerstrasse and turn right into Frutigenstrasse - follow the road; then turn left onto the Seestrasse - follow the road until Scherzligen Church.
Parking is available on the Schadau / Scherzlingen parking lot opposite Scherzligen Church, 2 minutes walk from the castle.
by train / bus: train station Thun; Bus No 1 direction Gwatt/ Spiez, bus station "Scherzligen" (1 stop)
