HÜNEGG CASTLE PARK
The forecourt at the castle entrance is distinguished by a pergola and central fountain. This area hosts the café in fine weather. Next to this, above the lawn with the basin and fountain, is a covered semi-circular music pavilion.
Close to the shore is a charming miniature house (Märli-Läse-Hüsli) dating from 1865, the period when the castle was built. At the highest point of the grounds is a viewing pavilion (the Culture Pavilion) in the form of a chalet, with a restored integral ice cellar.
From the castle terrace, there is a magnificent view of Lake Thun, the foothills and Alps. This is framed by shrubs and tall trees, growing luxuriantly in the temperate climate. The trees in the castle park include various foreign specimens: Sequoias, Lebanon Cedars and Multi-Stemmed False Cypresses, all planted around 1860.
OBERHOFEN CASTLE PARK
Conifers, deciduous trees and four exotic sequoias to this day define the appearance of the castle park in Oberhofen. Unique for its kind, the deciduous walkway made of hornbeam evokes romance and offers shade in summer. William Maul Measey, the most recent private owner, laid out the conifer valley, likewise the Swiss Cross.
Such a magnificent park requires a great deal of care, so the grounds include buildings for garden maintenance. Of note, the gardener's house and the orangery that have been in use since 1862. The children's chalet was dedicated to the count's children, as shown by the inscription on the south façade. The park in Oberhofen is an oasis without equal, inviting you to linger and enjoy. Children may play in the gravelled area near the pergola that is lined with lime trees.
SPIEZ CASTLE GARDENS
The castle area includes multiple gardens. In front of the baroque terrace, a fountain bubbles in a flower parterre, while on the chestnut terrace a statue of Adrian von Bubenberg stands guard; benches with their wonderful view invite you to linger. There is a small rose garden created in 1969 by the Rose Society of Spiez. A baroque herb garden was created in 2013 in connection with the castle kitchen. In the outer castle moat, a limestone grotto and a network of curved paths reflect the park's 19th-century design.
SCHADAU CASTLE PARK
Schadaupark is a local recreation area designed as an English garden. Here, on the lake by the Aare, you can enjoy a wonderful panorama of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Some of the trees in the park are indeed ancient: discover them on the woodland nature trail through the park.
